It's 1987, Louise the five-year-old reads Peter
and Jane books, learns to write her name and count to ten. Bono, The
Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen, (collectively known as U2 - one of
the best bands this universe has ever seen), release their latest album
'The Joshua Tree'.
Obviously at this tender age I am more interested in moulding a lump of
brightly coloured dough into the shape of various animals, vegetables and
the likes..so why in the name of goodness am I writing a review on a 14
year-old album I hear you ask?
'The Joshua Tree" is one of those classic albums that will stand the
test of time. Even to this very day the opening 3 tracks, 'Where The
Streets Have No Name', 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' and
'With Or Without You' are familiar to everyone, regardless of age or taste
in music. Yep, I'm sure all you sad little manufactured clone pea for
brains pathetic excuse for "music" fans out there can recognise
the pure genius that is U2 when you take the time out from being
brainwashed with your boom, boom, thud, thud, boom, boom, thud, thud pile
of poo, which I can tell you now, my poor unfortunate children, shall not
be remembered in a decade's time. Oh no it shall not!!! Oh no!!! It
shall be banished to the murky depths of the bottomless pit to join the
likes of 2 Unlimited, Chesney "mole boy" Hawks and Whigfield,
where they shall wail and knash their teeth for all eternity.
HAAAHAHAHAHAAHA!!!!! And I shall mourn them not! HAHAHAAAAAHAHAHAHAA!!!!
Ahem, yes, anyway..'The Joshua Tree' - excellent album, each track
jam-packed with that distinctive U2 sound, from the wonderfully wonderful
'With Or Without You', to the bring the tears to your eyes 'Running To
Stand Still', and the just plain excellent 'Red Hill Town'.
Yes folks, this is a must have album...so you know what you have to do -
BUT IT, LISTEN, LISTEN and LISTEN some more, because if you don't I shall
peel off all your skin and then throw you into a pool of salt.
No pressure or anything......
