This film was a widely anticipated addition to the comic book
movies that have gone before. Tradically, as we know all too well, there are quite goods
ones and sadly all too often, bad ones.
Now don't get me wrong, I have read the comic books and watched the
cartoons and knew what to expect. So I took my seat, complete with large Pepsi and bag of
Giant Smarties with an open mind.
Starring Patrick Stewart of Star Trek: Next Generation fame as Dr
Xaviour, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ian McKellen as Magneto, the cast cannot be
criticised for their lack on-screen talent.
Initially the plot is very good, and starts off with a promising
storyline. Trouble is, the story then wanes off and sort of loses the viewers attentions.
Although the special effects are quite spectacular, they have been seen before and used in
other films and don't really save the story. Also, the film ends (Close ears now) with a
half finished feel and there feels like there should be more. Perhaps they were
thinking of making a sequel although after this attempt, I not sure that would be such a
good Idea. Even so it would explain the exemption of characters like Gambit, Beast,
Jubblelee and Juggernaut.
On seeing this movie, I would advise people not to expect that much. It
could have been a good movie, started off as a good movie but it all went wrong someplace
along the line.
