Review :

Now some of you may have heard of books. Some may even have read a few. A couple may actually heard of Tom Clancy. No, not because some of his books have been turned into games but because his books have went on to make Movies like Patriot Games, Executive Orders and others. And as you'll probably guess most of his books are on political issues or terrorism. When reading his books, it's almost frightening to see how much details he can go into. Whether it's a quite important active part in the story or a insignificant piece of a information regarding a person, weapon or environment. The descriptive power manages successfully to implant a detailed picture in your mind making you want to read a paragraph over and over to be sure you haven't missed anything. (That's the tester part coming out again)

Shadow Watch follows the events following a space shuttle launch that went wrong. Between, manufacturing sites being attacked and assasination attempts, it's never clear what the motive of the terrorist is, even to the reader. Such suspence invites the reader to delve into the book until all is uncovered.

However, this book is fairly recent and only serves to question the simularlties between this novel and previous ones like it before, including those by Tom Clancy himself. Ok, it's a good book and perhaps if it was written by someone else then yes it would get far more credit. But Clancy has written this type of thing before and you can only write about FAMAS rifles and H&K suppressed weapons before everyone knows it's been recycled. Perhaps if there was a new angle on things other than a crack anti-terrorism unit being involved in the story then yes, I would take notice. Rainbow Six, yes good but then Shadow Watch? You could argue but the similarities are there.

A good book for perhaps the hardened Tom Clancy fan or a change from the regular Harry Potter novel, but don't expect anything as ground breaking as Rainbow Six.
